Launch Converter ➔What We Do
We built our Japanese Name Generator, Japanese Name Converter, and English to Japanese Name Converter for a mix of practical and creative reasons. Writers use our tools to name fictional characters. Gamers and roleplayers use them to build usernames and profiles. Students of Japanese use them to understand naming conventions and writing systems. Travelers and business professionals use them to see how their own name would be written in Japan. And a good number of visitors are simply curious about Japanese names, kanji, and what different characters mean.
Every tool on this site is built around real Japanese naming conventions and writing systems, including katakana, hiragana, kanji, and romaji, rather than generating random letter combinations. Where we show a meaning for a name or a kanji character, that meaning reflects how the characters are genuinely used in Japanese, based on published naming references and established language conventions.
Why We Built This
A lot of name generators online produce names that sound vaguely Japanese but don't reflect how Japanese names actually work, and a lot of name converters skip explaining the difference between translating a name and converting it phonetically. We wanted something more grounded than that: tools that are genuinely useful, explain the reasoning behind their results, and respect the culture they're drawing from.
What This Site Is Not
We are not a certified naming authority, a legal document service, or a substitute for advice from a native Japanese speaker or a qualified translator. If a name is going on an official document, a legal form, or anywhere cultural accuracy genuinely matters, we recommend confirming the result with someone fluent in Japanese. Our tools are a starting point for exploration, not a final authority.
We are also not affiliated with the government of Japan, any Japanese cultural institution, or any organization that manages official naming registries.
